Every
Maison Verte or affiliated institution is autonomous. Organized as
independent non-profit associations, they are usually financed by
public funds (social services, local and regional health councils,
and so on).
A few basic rules must be respected:
During opening times, visitors can just drop in. No prior appointment
is necessary.
Visitors may stay for just a few minutes or for an entire afternoon.
The only information recorded on the Maison Verte register
is the childs first name and age, plus its relationship to the
accompanying adult(s).
The adults names and professions must not be given.
A contribution to the running of the Maison Verte, usually
one or two Euros, may be solicited.
Other rules may vary from one Maison Verte to another: children must
respect the infants corner, must not take toys back home, must
put on a smock before playing with water, etc. |

A Maison Verte prepares a two-month-old infant
for temporary separation from its mother without displaying the
notorious adaptation syndrome, enabling it to feel safe
in society without her.

This
list is not exhaustive,
and many other Maisons Vertes exist in other parts of the world.
We would appreciate information on them and indications of any errors
that may appear here, so that we can regularly update these lists.
